WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF MY FILM MAGAZINE? TASK 2




                What is the purpose of my film magazine?


From looking at my initial research it is clear that the most popular  film magazines cover a wide range of subjects, genres and movies in general. Therefore, in order to appeal to a wide range of audiences, my film magazine will include content from an array of films releasing that month as well as smaller segments corresponding to the theme of the month (e.g a list of horror films in October). 
The film magazine will also include shorter articles based on T.V shows and video-games to further appeal to all audiences and to ensure the magazine is less repetitive. 

 My questionnaire also proved that a short, catchy title is important in attracting a consumers attention. Naming the magazine 'ACT!ON' is used to attract the reader using a short, catchy title. 

I have also chosen to include interviews with celebrities with upcoming releases as well as informative reviews as a mix of entertainment and informative content.

In this documentary series, journalist David Farrier travels the world in search for the darkest and most disturbing tourist spots. In this particular episode, David travels to Japan where he visits a number of strange and creepy locations. These places include a radioactive ghost-town, which was hit by both an earthquake and tsunami in 2011, a hotel where the staff are robots and the notorious Aokigahara Forest, also known as 'the suicide forest'. The purpose of this documentary is to act as both an insight into the darker parts of the world which are available to tourists, as well as question the ethicality of these twisted tourist trips.   Initial Research For A New Film Magazine     Most Popular Film Magazines: Entertainment Weekly Total Film  Empire  Variety  Sight and Sound    What Makes These Film Magazines Popular? The key marketing tactic to sell magazines is the front cover. For example, Empire magazines  have brightly coloured covers and usually boasts a famous celebrity of an upcoming movie or T.V show as the centre point of the front cover.  The use of brightly coloured imagery draws the viewers attention, whilst the face of a popular celebrity may further intrigue the viewer to purchase the product.     Empire: Empire Magazine is one of the world's most popular film magazines, with 205 thousand copies sold in 2016 in the UK alone.
